Cool grades, which turn the embers into debris
Deep focus; the softness is what keeps the sparks readable as light

One plane is sharp and it is the eyes. Everything else — sparks, rim, background — is deliberately out of focus, which is what stops a frame this busy from becoming noise. Stop down and the embers stop being light and start being clutter.
