Character Consistency, With a Bow

This is a revision of an earlier project. I created the original keyframes in Midjourney over a year ago. The style still holds up, but the bee was inconsistent from frame to frame and out of scale in some scenes. I rebuilt the keyframes for accuracy and character consistency, then regenerated the film from them. Zoom into the graph to see each step.

How it works, stage by stage

  1. 01

    Old keyframes

The original keyframes, made in Midjourney. I loved their look, so everything after this keeps it and only fixes what it got wrong.

  2. 02

    Character sheet

My starting reference was just a close-up of the bee's face, so I built a detailed character sheet from it for the edits to match against. The goal was consistent, not perfect: the same bow, and the same face from the front.

  3. 03

    New keyframes

Each Midjourney keyframe was edited in Nano Banana Pro, which is great at precise edits. The fixes were small: an extra wing, a missing leg, a bee too big for its scene, a honeycomb that changed between two frames. Some took more rounds than others. Partway through I gave the bee some pollen, and it carries it from then on.

  4. 04

    Shots

Each shot animates from one keyframe to the next, with both the first and the last frame given to the model. That is where the control comes from: the keyframes tell the story and hold the style, so the prompts don't need to describe the style at all. MiniMax H3 Max, for good quality at its price. Nine shots, joined into one sequence.

  5. 05

    Finishing

Outside the graph: upscaled in Topaz, then sound from ElevenLabs. MiniMax makes sound too, but clip by clip, so it gives away the cuts. ElevenLabs made the effects, ambience and music run continuously across the whole sequence.
